Many people will answer this as solo travelers that really enjoy that experience and often will try and sell solo as a fixed thing. To me it all depends. The best travel experiences in my life have been with great traveling companions, great for me. That is, they are good for me and I am good for them (hard for people to recognize). Many good friends would not make good travel companions, it requires something special. And so it isn’t as common.

Many of the benefits of solo travel, as typically listed off on Quora posts, stand out only in comparison to traveling with someone that really isn’t a good companion for the writer.

All these good features of solo travel are true, but also true is the sense of isolation which can tend to make one less likely to get out and do something.

Every good attribute of solo travel can be achieved with the right travel buddy. Plus you get so much more. No question but that the best travel expeirences for me have been those times when I have been with a great companion, sharing with them, pushing each other, finding humor in situations where alone i might get a bit grim, and doubling the chances of striking up an interesting conversation with someone new. (yes, travel with the right companion opens you up to meeting new people, not the other way around).

I have made two quite large solo trips in my life. They have had a determining, even life-changing effect on me. But the reasons for me to go it alone were entirely pragmatic:
